FAQ
What is Payroll Giving?
Payroll giving (also known as Give As You Earn) is a popular scheme whereby you make a regular donation directly from your pay to charity. It is an easy way to make donations straight from your gross pay to charity. Your donation will benefit the people you support without tax being deducted from the donation. So, if you are able to donate £10 per month, this will reach the beneficiaries as £12.98. Over one year, you would have donated £120 from your pay, and this would become £155.76 by the time it reached the people whom you are helping.Your employer must be registered with a payroll giving agency, such as the Charities Aid Foundation, Charities Trust or South-West Charitable Giving, to make deductions on your behalf. Ask your payroll department if your organisation is registered for payroll giving or:
· Ring the Charities Aid Foundation on 01732 520019
· Send us an e-mail and well check for you

What do you mean by tax-efficient?
Donations made to charity via payroll giving are made from gross pay, not net pay. So the people you help will receive the full benefit of your donation, without the tax deducted.
For example, if you make the following donation amounts from your net pay, the beneficiaries will receive even more:-
| Your donation from your take-home pay | Amount which will reach the people you help |
| £5 per month | £6.49 per month |
| £10 per month | £12.98 per month |
| £20 per month | £25.97 per month |
How much can I donate?
Since April 2000, the ceiling for payroll giving donations has been removed so you can donate any amount you choose each month.
